Iris neovascularisation in eyes with pseudoexfoliation syndrome.

چکیده
The iris vascular bed of eyes with pseudoexfoliation syndrome has been studied with electron microscopy. Two of the eyes suffered from painful glaucoma, whereas the third showed normal intraocular pressure. The following changes were observed: (1) deposits of pseudoexfoliation material lying adjacent to the endothelial wall; (2) thin vessel basement membrane, sometimes even interrupted; (3) extreme reduction of vessel lumina through increased volume of the endothelial cells; (4) fenestration of the endothelial wall. It is suggested that the iris neovascularisation in eyes with pseudoexfoliation syndrome is due to an obstruction of iris vessels causing tissue hypoxia.

Fluorescein angiography and fluorophotometry of the iris in pseudoexfoliation of the lens capsule.
Fluorescein iris angiography and fluorophotometry were performed on a series of 9 patients with bilateral and 11 with unilateral pseudoexfoliation, 12 bilateral aphakes with pseudoexfoliation, and 7 unilateral aphakes with bilateral pseudoexfoliation. Angiography showed a loss of radial iris vessels, a heavy leak of fluorescein from the pupil margin, progressive neovascularisation of the outer ...
متن کاملComparison of Intraocular Pressure of Both Eyes in Patients with Unilateral Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome
Background & Aims: Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXS) is a complex disorder which causes an increase in intraocular pressure (IOP). This study was conducted in order to compare IOP of both eyes of patients with unilateral PXS. Methods: In a cross-sectional study from January 2011 to June 2012, 79 patients with unilateral PXS were studied. The patients were examined first with constricted, and the...

PURPOSE To compare the morphology of the anterior chamber angle (ACA) and iris in eyes with pseudoexfoliation (PEX) syndrome to that of their clinically unaffected fellow eyes and normal control eyes. METHODS Forty-two patients with unilateral PEX syndrome and 42 normal subjects were studied. Eyes were separated into those with PEX, their clinically unaffected fellow eyes, and normal eyes. Th...

PURPOSE To localize the distribution of fibrillin-containing microfibrils in normal human anterior segment tissues and to characterize the role of fibrillin in the pathogenesis of pseudoexfoliation syndrome. METHODS Anterior segment tissues were obtained from 10 eyes with pseudoexfoliation syndrome and 10 normal eyes and investigated by indirect immunofluorescence and electron microscopic imm...
متن کامل(B)Role of Pentacam in Cataract Surgery:-
The Pentacam’s new densitometry software is not without limitations. A poorly dilated pupil interferes with the device’s sampling technology, and so eyes with pseudoexfoliation, trauma, and intraoperative floppy iris syndrome, for example, are problematic. Also, white cataracts block the system’s ability to sample the central nucleus. Nevertheless, comparison studies with the LOCS III system ha...
